Cataract is a major cause of vision difficulty over the age of 50 years. It describes a range of opacities or clouded areas in the lens of the eye, through which light passes to the retina. The effect is similar to the misting up of a window. It has become eminently treatable. When spectacles or contact lenses can no longer provide reasonable vision discussion and advice often leads to referral for surgical treatment treatment by an Ophthalmologist (eye surgeon)
